New Google Project to Save Endangered Languages

You can check out the Endangered Language Project at its web site. Personally, I had no idea that more than 7,000 languages are spoken throughout the world – and more than 3,000 could die in just three or four generations. That’s really sad. Any translator will tell you that there are some words that don’t translate well between languages. Every language reflects the culture that uses it; an entire perspective on the world and what’s important is woven into the words that people use.     I run an online business and am trying to maintain my front page Google and Yahoo search results. My website is not updated often and I’m slipping to the second pages. Do search engines pay any attention to how old web pages are (via sitemap.xml dates) and give priority to newer or more frequently updated web pages?
