If you don’t use those terms on your website, it won’t come up for those searches. This means you’ll get less traffic from the search engines, and fewer conversions. If you want to win over your audience, you need to speak their language. Fortunately, even bloggers who write corporatese like a native can stop incentivising their buzzwords long enough to see a real ROI. I am already fluent in both English and Spanish and know some French and I want to learn another language, preferably something that will give me an edge in the job market.
I thought about learning Chinese, but upon research I found out that most businesses find it useless because they mostly do business in English. It’s also said that the time devoted to learning Chinese would often be more efficiently applied in learning something else (getting a more advanced degree, etc.).
I also thought about improving my French, since I already understand much of it and find it relatively simple. But then I thought that it wouldn’t be useful to me in most job settings (graduating with a degree in Computer Science).
Is there any language that would give me an edge in the job market?
How long does it typically take for someone to learn how to communicate effectively in American Sign Language if they take a class at a community college? Also, are there any really good programs for self study if someone wants to learn ASL on their own? Thanks for any answers!
I plan on going into a medical field(maybe occupational therapy, but I’m still kind of undecided about what I want to do), and I want to learn ASL in order to be able to better communicate with patients. Is this reasonable, or would it be possible for me to develop enough proficiency in ASL to effectively communicate with anyone since I will be devoting so much of my study time to science and medical classes?
